Subject: Wiring question. IP: Logged
Message: My 2002 Dak came with the AM/FM cassette. I found a factory system that's identical except it also has the CD player. I tear the dash apart to put the new system in & the plugs in back are completely different. Grrrrr! What now? Get a custom adaptor made at a audio store? Do it myself (new system does have a wiring diagram on top). Sell it & forget it? Looking for suggestions.

Message: If the new system has a wiring digram then get the wire digram for you truck (Crutchfield) and make the approiate connections. Personally ANY factory stuff will be junk, so you would be better off with a real name brand CD player.

Message: I agree with JMII on this one. Most decks that come with the car are crap, unless it says Bose or Rockford Fosgate: which is in the Nissian's. They don't have good quality if they are made by mopar or something,.... sorry mopar!!! I would suggest Sony deck, or Pioneer. Pioneer were the first at aftermarket decks for autos, and they are still the best!!! I have a sony, so I'm not telling an owner's opinion about the product. Trust me,.. you'll be able to tell the difference, even if you don't put in aftermarket speakers.

Message: Thanks for the advice, guys. The reason I went with the factory set-up is A) Price. Money's tight & the better systems are a little out of reach right now. B) I figured it would be a simple no-hassle installation. (wrong!)

Message: Just a comment, the factory systems have
components in them made by pioneer.
Pioneer products are junk, im sorry they just
are. They are nice and cheap, but hey you get
what you pay for. "A good system isnt cheap
and cheap system isnt good." that saying is
true when it comes to car audio, unfortunately.
Jeff W: save your money till you have enough
to by yourself a nice head unit like a clarion
etc. stay away from the overproduced cd
players that "everyone" is buying, not to say
they arent good but for a couple hundred more
you can get an amazing cd player that will last
not to razz on anyone, but hey good sound
starts with a good head unit and im sick of
seeing people suggest cd players and head
units in general that are not work the plastic
they are made out of!
