Subject: parallel setup questions IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I know how to wire a parallel setup and yes my amp can handle running at 2 ohms. I'm rigging up 4 speakers on a 2 channel amp and need to run a parallel connection. My only problem is how do I get to speakers to feed off of one terminal? Do I run 2 seperate speaker wires from the amp terminal or just one and then splice it right before the speaker? If anyone has any real pics of how they did it that would be great because all the diagrans I've seen have yet to clarify how you get wire from 1 speaker to the other and then back around. Thanks guys

Message: Either way is fine. If you run one wire and split it, make sure the first segment is heavy enough gauge to run power for two speakers. Like, if you're running 12 gauge to the speakers, the first section from the amp should be 8 gauge . Pictures and diagrams sometimes make things look more complicated than they need to be. For parallel connection all you are doing is connecting 2 + to the amp +, and 2 - to the amp -. How you do that is up to you. but just fo rthe record, I do recommend using equal lengts and gauge of wire for each speaker connected in this way.
