Subject: best sub quality? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, my friend is looking for a 12 to put in his truck. He has a chevy 1500 ext.cab so i doubt space is tight. I told him to either get infinity pefect, jbl gti, alpine type-r, polk momo, or maybe clarion. I automatically went to eh infinity and jbl but I was seeing if anyone knows any good quality sounding subs that don't have to hit hard, just sound great.

Message: JL Audio are tight and have awesome clarity, even at loud volumes. And if you are concerned with sound quality over decibls, consider two tens. JL Audio 10w7s if money is not a concern. The 10w3s sound good on a tighter budget.
Also JBL subs suck.

Message: I've heard the infinity perfects and the are crystal clear. My question is the audiobahn. I knew a guy who had like 2 10's and it didn't sound great. Definately not as good as the jl's or infinitys. But yea, i told him about jls too and suggested he get an 8" w7 for a good combo pf punch and SQ. Thanks for the input

Message: It's a somewhat relative question. Obvisouly there are some drivers that just plain suck, but it's also a question of how good the enclosure is. Just because a sub performed poorly in one person's application, doesn't necessarily mean it a crappy model.
Just wanted to keep things in a bit of perspective for ya when considering other people's reviews, etc. Some of the all around good drivers I've built into various types of enclosures are JL, Kenwood Excelon, Alpine R (and the S if you're not pumping high wattage. As I said, it's relative. I've used cheapo Pioneer drivers with fantastic results when someone wants a budget enclsoure.
If you have a particular driver in mind, get the specs for that driver and build your enclosure around those specs. If you're just looking to build a custom enclosure for a particular space, spec your box and buy a driver to suit your enclosure specs.

Message: audiobahns are good, but they tend to be kinda powerhungry. Fosgates are also good, but tend to not handle a whole lotta power. I love JBL's. If I could have some in my truck, I would. You might also wanna check out a brand called Coustic. My friend has had them for a few months, and I'm pretty impressed. Don't know about the longevity but they sound good. Hope the info helps!

Message: Man, these people are recommending horrible brand name
subwoofers.
Don't go with any of those. In fact you should ask this question
at a place such as caraudioforum.com.
If you want to know what I think you can ask, sorry to come off
strong.
Audiobahn are one of the worst subwoofer brands out there by
the way. Totally inefficient and sound terrible.
I recommend posting a thread at that forum and you'll get better
recommendations.
For a start check out the Soundsplinter Rl-p 12, Acoustic
Elegance AV series, TC sounds, Adire audio..
