Subject: new cd player IP: Logged
Message: i have a 98 dakota slt 3.9 v6 with stock infinity setup with CD. The cd player will not play burned CD's so i have decided to upgrade to a new cd player. Does it matter how many watts it has if i have the stock infinity amp?? Any reccomendations from anyone who has swapped out stereos with the infinity system??
I am not planning on adding subs. I am planning on keeping stock infinity amp and switching to 6.5 kappas in back and 6.5 kappa components in front. I think I have to go with these speakers because they are the only ones out that are 2 ohms. I have heard the stock amp uses two ohms. Anyways any input would be great.

Message: You should be okay to hook up direct. My Kenwood Excelon 589 cranks out 60 watts so probably 30 watts RMS at best. The stock amps are good for a 30 watt input load from the literature that I have found. The only issue that I ran into was hooking up the wire harness adapter. I had to hook up the Remote Amp wire on the head unit to the Power Antenna wire on the harness adapter.
