Message: 98 CC V6 SLT w/stock infinity cd player.
I like the stock look but it wont play burned CD's. Is there a special way i can get it to play burned CDs?
I have heard if I buy higher quality CD's it may work. Anyone else run into this? Id hate to replace stock unit just cuz it wont play burned CD's . Let me know.

Message: I've "heard" the higher quality CD-R thing too, but I'm not sure myself. You have a 98, which means it was probably put together in 97, with technology from 95-96 or earlier.
I would suspect (IMHO) that there is no support for CD-R/RW in that unit.

Message: It's probably because they're 80-minute CD-Rs. They squeeze 80 minutes onto those discs by narrowing the track pitch slightly. older players can't cope with that and will barf. If you can find 74-minute CD-Rs at a reasonable price, try those.

Message: I was able to play some burned CDs in my 98 but others wouldn't play. I would agree with Jim though. Older units can have problems with the 80 minute CDs sometimes, especially with an MP3 conversion to CDDA. The ones that tended to work in mine were straight burns from store-bought. The stock unit sounds okay for stock, but let's face it...it's still stock. I threw my Excelon from the Jeep in the truck and am rockin' again!

Message: I ran into the same problem so i went and bought *Sony CD-R Music* cds(80min) and they would play after awhile of loading which gets really annoying.
It has to load for a minute or two before each track.
So I think I'm going to buy a new stereo. Does anyone know a good stereo for a low price?

Message: Hmmmm....good decks for low prices are kind of contrary terms. I would reccommend the Kenwood MP4032. Should be able to pick it up for between $200-300 and it's a lot of deck for that price! I like the Kenwoods because they are one of the few that have not veered from their build specs to please a larger company (ie. Future Shop, Canadian Tire, etc). My Excelon 589 sounds better than my old Alpine CDA9813 and that was almost a $1000 deck!
