Subject: 04 QC 10" sub box IP: Logged
Message: Built this in the last couple of nights. It fits behind the console, snugly, against the ridge in the floor under the seats. The 40% seat folds down without obstruction; haven't tried the 60 seat yet as there's too much crap in the back... door panel, trim etc. Yes, that is an extension cord plug... if you were gonna ask. :)

Message: Can I ask for the dimensions? I would like to do something like that also. What cubic feet did you end up with?
Thanks

I used 7/8" MDF and started with the bottom piece; I used a piece of coat hanger to get the angle behind the console (didn't have a sliding square) - it worked out to be about 16.5 Deg. Next, I drew a line parallel to the bottom, for the top, then drew the front and back sides, getting a 6" length for the top piece. After that was built I set it down on the mdf and traced around the inside shape for each side and cut those out. The corners of the box had to be rounded off for it to fit in that area, and to make it easier on the vinyl.
The internal volume is 0.64 cubic feet, which is decent, since the recommended minimum for that sub is 0.65.
The 60% seat does not fold down, due to the cup holder, I may see if I can easily get the upholstery off and see if the holder can be removed so the seat will fold down, or if it can otherwise be modified to work. I can weld, so if it comes to cutting something out to make it work, then welding it back in if I decide to sell it or whatever, then I may do that.
I just went out and took a couple of pics and put it behind the drivers seat, it fits quite well there as well.
My sister does auto upholstery and recommended against the vinyl because it gouges easily, but I got the stuff for free and like the look better than the rug stuff.

Message: I just noticed a discrepancy in my drawing. the 16.5 degrees should be off the 90, not the measurement of the inside angle. Also, the width of the box is 13".

Message: if your gonna put a box right there where your feet would go nobody can sit there so why not just fold up the seat and get something bigger because you would have plenty of room

Message: I still want to put the box on the hump, behind the console, so someone could potentially sit in the middle and share the two side foot areas, if need be.
That box and sub put out plenty of bass, so, that size is fine. The first day I had the sub in the box I listened to it fairly loudly and my ears hurt for two days, anything more would be a waste and I don't want a monstrosity of a box in my truck.
