Subject: Amp Wiring Options
IP: Logged

Message:
I Had A 1100 Watt 4 channel amp wired as follows. Channel 1 and 2 wired to door speakers and channel 3 and 4 wired to 2 10 inch subwoffers MTX Thunderform wired (Bridged Mono)

Now I have replaced and wired all my door speakers to a new AMP so all that is hooked up to the original amp is the subwoffers.

Questions.

1- should I just leave the subs Bridged mono on channel 3 and 4 or is there a better way to get more power to the subs?

2- Since all I have is the subwoffers what should I do with all the cross over pot settings and gain settings? Do they have any effect now?

Thanks in advance

I would think you could bridge channels 1 and 2 to one sub and channels 3 and 4 to the other sub. don't take my word for it though, probably depends whether the amp is bridgeable. Have a close look where the amp terminals are +, -, etc, it may have the proper way to bridge printed by the terminals, other than that, do a google search for your amp model.

Gain will still work; it's like turning a mic gain up, on an amp, to increase the sensitivity - essentially making it louder.
