Subject: Speakers not working... IP: Logged
Message: I have a JVC head units and one day the speakers quit working... My sub still beats but thats it... Think it could be a lose wire? At first it only did it if I turned it up past 30 and now it kinda cuts in and out with static.... maybe a loose connection? I just wanted some ideas before I ripp the dash apart tomorrow...
Thanks,
-Jason

Message: Sounds like you dont have an external amp, so that cant be the problem...Hit the restart button with a paper clip and turn your car off then back on. My JVC Head Unit has quit puttin out sound before, and this will make it work again.
It might have blown a fuse in the back of the unit too, but I dunno how the sub is getting a signal, so thats probably not it either. Good luck.

Message: Ya.. I reset it.. disconnected it... Checked the harness... and the fuse.... They all go out at the same time so I assume its something wrong inside the unit itself... I think I'll disconnect the battery for a while..
Thanks,

Message: sounds like the internal amplifier is going/gone out. The sub runs off of "pre-outs" and then to an external amp.
If it is going out you may be able to open it up and replace a FET or something. It sound like you blew one out by turning it up too high. You might even see a cracked one. If not replace them all, they should only be a couple dollars each and cheaper than a new unit.

Message: My JVC unit is weird.......if you hold 3 buttons at a time it goes to maximum volume and nearly blows my speakers. Im not sure if this is intentional, or a glitch in the programming of the unit, but it pisses me off.
I got the unit for free from someone who didnt want it....probably why. It's free, and it works pretty good so i still keep it, haha.

Message: My girlfriend blew a speaker and I think its shorting the rest out because if I tap on the door panel the music will cut in and out.... anyone think this to be reasonable

Message: Like I said, If I tapped on the door panel the speakers would flicker on and off... well, I opened up the panel and removed the speaker, turned the volume up and it didnt cut out on me??? So I assume it was a problem with that speaker BUT.....
BUT.... I took the speaker I removed and hooked it up to my house speaker and it sounded wonderful... I dont understand? Maybe one of the metal pieces was getting grounded or something??? Any ideas?

Message: or that channel on your HU is bad. Did you put a different speaker in it's place to rule that out?
