Subject: 03 Front Speaker Replace IP: Logged
Message: Well I bought some new speaker componets, Cadence kit. 6 1/2 round. Nice set, problem is I took the door panel off, pulled out the factory speakers and I noticed that the factory speaker was slim.
The new speakers are 2 7/16 deep, problme is I will have to do some mods and figure out how to attach it to the door so it does not hit the window bracket and the panel still fits snug.
Anyone have any thoughts on what I need to do.
Thanks
Mark

Message: How much space is there between the front of the speaker and the door panel? you might just need to make some spacers to put between your new speakers and the door.... I havd a set of Alpine type R componets ready to install in my 03 R/T Im just waiting on the rear speakers.

Message: I have an 04 with the Type R components in the front. Depth wasn't an issue for me, I even have the crossover between the speaker and door and have no space issues. If the 03 model is short on space, just do like Forseti said. Best Buy carries 1/2" and 1" spacer rings for a few bucks.

Message: Drill holes in the plastic factory speaker harness which holds the cheap original speaker. Be careful not to crack the plastic, as you only have 4 total. After doing this, it should make a perfect fit.

Message: i bought 4 cadence 6.5 inch speakers for my truck, they would not fit either...if you very carefully pry the plastic ring off the stock speaker they should fit with no problem, i used a little silicone on the ring to help seal it and they sound awesome, now im just tryin to decide what to do for a little more bass even though i dont really need it with these speakers
