Subject: Center console sub? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone put a single 8" in front of the center console in a Quad Cab? Looks like the best place to locate one if you have the auto and bucket seats (like I plan on getting soon...) Love to see some pictures or stories on how it worked out. Sound stage should be awesome too!

Message: Not enough room dude. Unless you're going to cut through the floor to fit the enclosure. Your best bet is to build it into the center console/ armrest. You'll lose the storage space, but it will fit. I wouldn't worry about the soundstage too much with a sub anyway. Bass frequencies are pretty omnidirectional. Placement isn't as critical with them as it is with components.

Message: Audio God -> Isnt that where he wanted to put it? In the center console? Your confusing me... You said it wont fit less you cut into the floor, then you said build it inside...
Ha, sorry if im missing something. This is something i have though about as well, and i figured it be REALLY tight, but you could prob squeeze in a JL 8 or somthing in there...

JMII,
Although I'm not famaliar with the interior on '01 and '02 Quad Cabs, I see no reason why it wouldn't work ... other than possible interference with something on the dash like the ashtray. You should also have room enough to go with a 10" as you won't have to worry about fitting it between the seats.

Message: are the consoles diff between club cab (dual buckets and huge deep center console with giant cupholder) and the quad cabs center console?
it was an upgrade on my truck to get that iwht the bucket seats. If i took that off the floor and built a box inside it, then remounted it to the floor, i would think it should fit a small sub...
i dunno though

Message: Thanks guys
I was thinking a Kicker L7 8" should fit if I lose the cupholders and access to the ashtray. I might be able to put the cupholders back in on top of the whole thing once finished.
Someone must had done this before. I guess once I get the truck I'll be able to measure and see for myself. Maytbe a sub would fit behind the center console on the floor in the back.

Message: You can make anything fit!!! You just need to know how much modification you're willing to do and how much functionality of other equipment you're willing to sacrifice.
The solobaric uses a .33 cu ft box, which is pretty small. I've seen one that was built into the center console with the sub facing towards the rear of the truck.
Do a search for sub in a quad. Some guy named Spaghets did an install like what you're thinking.
Good Luck in whatever you decide.
