Message: I have a cc 2000 R/T, and a couple questions.
1) How do I tell which system I have? It is a cd player with the little joystick to adjust the ballance, if that helps.
2) What are the specs. for the stock speakers. I would like to upgrade the speakers to some cheep 3 ways so as to not advertise to theives that I have something to steal, yet still be better than stock.
3) Wallmart had some 3 ways for 20 bucks, would these be worth it, or just a waste of time. Remember, trying to stay cheep here. If these are worthless, please steer me in the right direction as I am pretty much car audio stupid with anything mfg. after the 80s.
Thanx,
Marcus

Message: well do you have the infinity emblems on the doors? if you do then you have 6.5" components up front (so three ways wont work well there), and 5.25" in the rear (two or three ways would work there but i put in another set of components and it sounds amazing but since your staying cheap ignore that idea). So what im saying is dont buy those from walmart they arent worth the time effort or money and if you have the infinity system with the seperate mounted tweeters i advise you to put another set of components in there(you will have to spend atleast 100).

Message: If you have tweeters in the sail panels of the front doors, in front of door glass, you have the upgraded Infinity system.
Don't get cheap speakers, Even though the stock speakers are low quality they sound pretty darn good for an OEM speaker. If you get cheap replacements they could sound worse than the stock speakers.
The OEM speakers are 2 ohm,,, any 4 ohm speaker you put in there will not be as loud as the stock speakers, might sound better but won't be as loud. Some aftermarket MFG's have 2 ohm speakers, I think someone mentioned Crutchfield.com has them.
6 1/2 speakers front and rear, components will sound much better than coax's or 3 ways in front, in the back it doesn't matter to most.
If you only want some noise go for the $20 WalMart speakers. If your going to keep the stock stereo system go with 2 ohm replacement speakers for the best sound, they will be hard to find and expensive. If your going to upgrade the stereo (amps) I would get a good set of components. You can get a new set of Infinify Reference 6 1/2" components off Ebay for $100

Message: Thanks for your help, I don't have any tweeters right now, no Infinity emblems anywhere. So I guess it's the other system.
Not sure what I'm gonna do yet, may replace the head unit.
Not big on sound systems, wouldn't mind it beeing better, but I'd rather put money in rocker arms or and MSD box, than dump big $$s in the sound system.
Thanks again.
