Message: are the clarion srw3041 subs any good . They are 12" with sigle voice coil 4 ohm 500watt Max power and I can get em for 97 bucks each canadian. I have a box built just waiting for some subs thinking of putting in two of em. I am worried anbout the box volume should I go with 2 10s or 2 12s will the 12s give me much better sound or would i just be wasting cash?

Message: First and most important is figuring out the volume of your box and then matching it with subs that are made for that volume..I went to Clarion.com and found that sub, but there was no specs there on what size box to use.
http://www.clarion.com/psspeakerfm.htm
Looking in my Crutchfield catalog, most 12" subs require anywhere from 0.9 to 1.25 cu. ft. in sealed enclosures and around 1.5 to 2.5 in ported enclosures
Hope that helps...

Message: Why not just finish off your speakers with some more JLs? 12W0 or 12W1 are inexpensive and sound good.

Message: I think i paid $600 for the box which is built for a camaro/firebird. it's angled so that it fits where the T tops go. i had a firebird at the time, and then about 5 bills for the amp who i bought from my neighbor. so it's not that bad. for not having to buy anything for the past 3 years isn't bad.Except some alpine components

Message: The box started off with 3 10" W O's but those sucked ass so i sold them and bought the 3 w6's to replace them. i'm sure you can go to JLaudio.com and find the box there and find out how many cubic feet it is. All i know is that there is enought cotton dampening stuff in the box to make enough shirts to last a year.
