Subject: Biggest sub behind QC seats?
IP: Logged

Message:
Whats the biggest sub I can fit behind the rear seats of my 01 QC? I was thinking of putting like 3 8's behind them but infinity doesn't make any 8's and my whole setup is going to be infinity so i was just going to put one perfect 10" behind the small seat. Can I do that or is the speaker too deep? Thanks for all your help

If you can get over the "I gotta stick with Infinity" thing, Earthquake makes some really nice shallow woofers. www.earthquakesound.com. The 12"s only have a mounting depth of like 3".I put two 8"s behind my reg cab seats and can move the seats all the way back.

Two 10's here.

With some more "magic" maybe 12's could be possible?

Never mind that POS MTX in the drivers side box. Haven't had a chance to buy another RF sub to match the other. But wanted to do the second box one weekend so that's what I had lying around.

Slight seat mods are nesessary. But worth it.

Yes, I saw on another post how you modded the backseats to where the fold down now. I was wondering if you had more pics or more info on how i could do that because that would be pretty cool I think. Also, what are the dimensions on your box? Mainly, how deep does it is? Thanks

Hmm... I may have to go outside with the camera tomorrow and get you some more pics. I KNEW I had pix at one time of the brackets. But can't find them now.

I used a grinding wheel, and a wire feed welder for the bracket mods. I used a regular drill to make new holes in the seat bracket where it is bolted to the floor.

The boxes are .75 cu feet. Just enough for the subs.

I've read thru several posts, but can't find anyone who has put a 10" Kicker L5 behind the rear passenger seat. I've done the measurements for building a box and I can get plenty of volume, but the 6" mounting depth of the sub is a problem. I really don't want to mess with the seat mounting brackets. I was wondering if I'm missing something, if anyone has done this before or if someone has any ideas. An 8" L5 would fit no problem, but after reading thru the specs, the 10" is so much more impressive and a better bang for the buck.

I've been wanting to do that to my dak for a couple years now but Texas Tech doesn't seem to want to give me a break long enough for me to get the funds together so. But someday.....

I still can't get over them nice leather seats blkquad. I just can't have my subs out for everyone to see (thieves) or for my kids to use as a damn arm rest!!!!

That's still one clean install though.

Oh yea, first thign I did to my dakota was put some 5% limo....on top of the already smoked windows from the factory. Literally can't see into the rear seat at all, down side is you can't see out of them at night either.

I had 2 MTX 9500 DVC 12's in my truck. I have a 1996 Dakota with rear cab. It took my rear cab. Believe me, it's NOT fun to work with in a small space like that. I loved the sound though. I had the 6500D MTX amp. I loved it. Had a 4 farad cap.

I have 2 10's. And yes I know this is an old thread, but people always ask these questions....

Those pics are from a home brew sound deadening project. Average noise level at 70 MPH is 68 - 69 dBA with mild wind. 2007 S class mercedes noise level is 66 - 68 dB. Still not done yet, Still have the floor from right under the front seats to the firewall, should make another big improvement.
