Got a few questions...I bought a couple of the eD EU-700's. Figured I'd go ahead and build up a system with em and see if they are as good as everyone says...and if they are, it'll be funny when a friend goes, "Damn...what kinda system you got?!" ... "Just a couple 6 1/2" subs."

Anyway...It'll be a few weeks before I can afford an eD amp (NiNe.2) but I'm working on the box plans currently. My friend has agreed to build it for me, but I'm trying to get most of the hard stuff figured out and just provide him with all the measurements.

I'm gonna make the subs down-firing and mount the box to my old center consoles brackets...talk about a total pain in the ass to do, but will definitely be easiest and look a lot nicer. My main question is, will my current idea work alright (picture below) or do you have a better way I should build the box? Also...I know NOTHING as far as determining the box size. I've been using the calculator on the eD website, but what volume should I shoot for with 2 subs? I'm trying to keep the box from being much larger than what my middle seat/center console was, but that depends on what volume box these subs sound best in...and I've no clue what that is except for the applications section on the eD site says...and it gives me a range from .15cF (small, sealed) - .30cF (large, sealed) per driver.

I think that's about it...here's my sub plans, I'll provide a better explanation under it.

Okay...the only thing I really am gonna explain further is the description for the legs. It should read, "To give the subs enough room to fire without hitting the base board." I also plan on covering the gap between the base board and box with either a heavy duty mesh/grill material (like what you'd find on dj speaker cabinets/grills) or using a fine mesh like what you'd find on home audio speaker cabinets.

Any suggestions you can give me would be awesome...and if any of you others have suggestions, feel free to reply as well.

Thanks!

Just posted this in another thread but...I just put two Earthquake SWS 8" in my reg cab. I took all the carpeting off the back, dynamatted, and then built the box snug up on the dynamat. I then cut the carpet piece so I could still bolt a piece above the box. Built the box to go all the way across the back with a recess in the middle for the amp. Also recessed the subs so they wouldnt hit the back of the seats. I can put the seats all the way back and you can't tell there are subs in there.

Thanks for the idea, but I put stuff behind my seats all the time and don't want to lose that space...plus my middle seat's already been removed so I got the perfect place for a custom console/sub box between the seats. Just gotta make sure my box idea will work alright and get my other questions answered.

Your setup looks pretty sweet though!

there should be plenty of room to do a pair of 700s in the console. if you plan on powering them with a NINe.2, aim just a bit on the smaller side of box size. 0.5 cuft sealed would work GREAT for that setup.

or....

if you can squeeze out a little more like 1.5-2.0cuft gross, you could go ported and really wow some people. let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks...I'd go with ported, but due to the size restrictions I'm trying to keep it at, I'm gonna have to stick with a sealed box. Keeping it around .5cF will be perfect though...it'll give me enough room to build a couple cupholders into the box. Been missing those for a while now. lol

...and I guess if the sealed box setup doesn't perform well enough, I could always just build a ported box and give it a shot. Anyway, thanks...I'm hoping to have everything done in the next few weeks.
