Subject: amp not powering on IP: Logged
Message: I tried to install an amp and 2 10" subs in my wife's grand am last night. I ran the power wire from the battery to a 50A fuse, then from the fuse to the amp. I bolted the ground to a pre-existing hole in the trunk of her car. The problem is that the amp is not powering on. I tested the power wire with my multimeter and was getting 12.5 volts, same as the battery is putting out. I thought I had a bad amp, so my wife went in and exchanged it. Connected it up and it's still not powering on. The fuse on the amp is good.
for what's it worth, I am using the factory stereo (no rca connectors) so i had a line output converter installed (circuit city) from the 2 back speakers. I am connecting the amp to the rca's on the line output converter
any thoughts on why the amp is not powering on? It's really odd that 2 amps are not working.

Message: Turns out the ole control wire was a little flaky, replaced it and amp powers on.
wife doesn't like it so much yet, too loud! It's only an 800 watt system. I got 10's instead of 12's she wanted. I told her 12's would be too much for her.
