Message: A lot of stores offer free installation on head units, so try and go that route. The front speakers are not hard if you buy the proper size and don't need mounting rings. But once again a stereo shop can install them for pretty cheap. The back ones are a real pain in the butt, so it would cost a lot more to install. If your interested in installing them yourself, just say the word and I will give you some basic instructions. But I would start off with the head unit and front speakers for now.

Message: I looked at getting the kenwood, fosgate and alpine mp3/cd players and I decided to go with a regular cd player because of the pain it would be to have 200 mp3's on one cd. See there are 2 ways to burn mp3's on style is joliet and I can't remember the other off the top of my head but here is the difference. With one style it's like having a cd with 200 tracks. None of the new mp3 players offer and easy way to navigate the tracks. For instance if you want to listen to hank williams on track 119 you have to hit the forward button 119 times(pain in the a$$). The other style allows you to customize your music into folders. So you can organize your music by artist or genre or how ever you like. But then you have to navigate to the desired folder that contains the song you want and all this is done on 2 line of graphics. I find it easier to create my own custom cd's and have multiple cd's in the truck rather than try to stare at my stereo to find track 119 or look in my country folder for my hank williams folder to find wiskey bent and hell bound song. Then look up and find myself parked in the piggly wiggly. But to each his own. I thought you might like to know how they work first.

Message: My new pal Al-
Head Unit with a MP3 then you need a single Din unit, there is about 30 decks out there and they all are pretty good. Just find one you like. Kenwood, Panasonic, Sony, Rockford Fosgate all make them and there good.
The front speakers that will fit without hassle are Pioneer A Series 6-3/4" Speakers TS-A1795. There under $150 and don't require any special installation modifications. Just drop them in. If you want components or another size speaker you may have to do some additional things to get them installed. Dodge made their speaker mounts a little wacky so you may have to build a wood ring to mount your speaker on and then mount that to the metal.
Rear Speakers go with the stock ones for now, and you can change them out later if you want. They will also be 6 3/4" or smaller.

Message: i have the aiwa cdc-mp3 and it has been good to me for the past 6 months. the only thing is that you have to put rename the MP3's starting like:
"01-trackname.mp3, 02-trackname.m3, etc." if you want them to play in order. if you make folders when you burn the cd, its like having a cd changer, because you can just skip through each folder like seperate cd's. pretty cool. anyways the AIWA cdc-mp3 with a steering wheel mounted remote goes for around $160 brand new on ebay. i think thats a steal considering i bought it for $300 six months ago at CIRCUIT CITY without a remote. (but i did get free installation)As for speakers, i've found that pioneers are good for the price. they're not as pro as say infinity's or polks that cost 4 times as much, but for an upgrade from stock, you will hear the difference. they sound awesome to me. i think i paid about 50 bucks for a pair of 6.5'' on ebay. here's some examples:

Message: Rotax,
Couple of things.....First, your getting some wrong information here. R/Truck isn't realizing you have a quad cab when he says the back speakers are a "pain-in-the-butt" to replace. In all honesty, the backs of a quad cab are just as easy as the front.
As far as recomendations: I bought the Pioneer TS-C1653 Component speakers for the front and 3-way TS-A1665 speakers for the back doors and am very pleased with the sound of them. One thing to note on this is that you will NOT need to buy any special "trim rings" to mount them- the screws that came with my Pioneer speakers were plenty long to fit through the exsisting plastic trim ring and into the metal of the inner door panel. The reason, in case your wondering, that you just cant use the exsisting screw holes for the speakers is that the factory speakers only have 3 screw mounting points and MOST after market speakers (at least Pioneer) have 4 screw mounting points thus you'll have to drill new holes through the exsisting trim ring and into the metal.
Hope this helps- feel free to e-mail me for questions or pictures.

Message: Well, where were you a long time ago, give me some help. I think the speakers used in the quads are the same as the club cabs, except for the trim over them. I used a trim ring so I didn't have to drill any new holes in the metal.
Thanks for the input.

Message: Sorry R/Truck,
Didnt mean to step on your toes, I had read the post when he orginally posted- just happened to read through the follow-ups and caught that! As far as the speakers- ya your right, same speakers up front(6.1/2-6 3/4), and for us that have the Quad Cabs, the rear speakers are in the rear doors- replace just like the fronts!
Sorry if I insulted you! LOL
