i've probably seen about 20 different pyramid amps hooked up in about 12 different cars in the past decade. out of those 20 or so, i've only seen 2 burn up and those are both due to incorrect installs/applications, such as trying to drive a .5 ohm load to a 4 ohm stable amp, etc.
on the other hand, i've seen slightly more expensive amps such as a sony xplode burn up at a 4 ohm load, while running in "hi current" mode (which was supposed to be stable @ 1 ohm).
and i'm sure we've all seen our share of burnt up Fosgate, Clarion, Kenwood, and many, many more amps (running at their rated power) that cost more than pryamid.
i am a firm believer that regardless of what you buy, if you spend the time to set it up right and take the time to install it right, you have a very low chance of burning your shiznit up.

i still think they are crap and would never buy one... :)
but if your in a budget then get wat you can afford, i do the same i have a cheap 4 channel in my car as well.
Oh and .5 ohm loads are fun on a 4 ohm stable amp :)

ok i got the 1600watt amp.! It sucks. the 600watt pumped more then this peice of crap. so i returned it and got a rockford fosgate 401s :).Now i just need help on how to hook up the fuse for this bad boy. its an external fuse that ur suppose to wire to the 12volt power supply. i need help on how to hook it up.!

You just run a wire from the battery to the amp with the proper inline fuse on it..

Good choice on the 401S, it's a world apart from the Pyramid amps. I'v had a 301s for about 6 months and love it.

i have one problem.! my sony xplod P5 doesnt pump that much.! its a 10" seald box. the pyramid 600watt put out deeper bass. do i have to adjust something?
