Hey guys, i have a 2000 dakota with the infinity system. I decided to swap out the old head unit with an aftermarket one. Ran into a bit of trouble though. I made all the connections with the wiring harness' and the unit turns on, but I can't get any sound. I've been reading that i need to make a connection with the remote turn on lead somewhere... which wire do i need to splice this with... and also, theres a black cable with a slide adapter on it that came off the back of the original cd player. Where does this goto now? I think i read that this is the ground to the amp??

So basically the questions are... which cable to i splice for the remote turn on to the amp... and where do i tie in the amp ground with the cd player ground? Thanks guys.

the blue wire is your remote turn on, the black wire from your amp should be grounded to a good chassis grounding point, the bolts for the seats usually provide a good ground.

i am having the same problems you are, man. my head unit works great, and the guy who owned the truck before me had wired in a couple of 10" subs right with the back two speakers. they have their own amp, so basically im looking at having sound through just my two subs, and nowhere else. sounds sweet(or not). i just hit on an idea though. when i pulled my stock head unit out, the power for my external amp was spliced with the ACC power. when i wired in the new unit, i wired that with the wire labeled "external power." however, i THINK that if i splice the external amp with the ACC like it was before, and run the remote line through the external, it just might work...hope that wasnt to confusing to understand. i need to go check this out right now...
