Subject: Replacing tweeters....need help

Message:
I want to replace the tweeters in my 2000 dakota (it had the infinity system, switched the cd player to a kenwood deck). My factory tweeters are blown and when I turn it up they now sound pretty bad. Who has changed theirs and with what? I already have some MTX 6.5's in the door so all I want to replace are the tweeters. No new amp for now, just tweeters. I don't want to spend a ton on them but would like something where I can just pull off the door panel and exchange the old tweeters for the new ones. Is it as easy as that?

i have a 98 with the infinity system in it. i havent replaced them in my truck but will be needing new speakers all around. if the new 6.5" speakers you got have a tweeter in them already, then it wont even be necessary to replace the factory tweeters...i would just disconnect them. it would save you money and still sound good. just my opinion...

rob, for the '00 with the infinity system the tweeters are located just below the window in front (at the hinge) of the door.
