Okay, I have a completely stock infinity sound system in my 97 CC dak. Would this sounds system have the infinity amp that some of you talk about?
Also, the back speakers were blown and replaced with some sort of clareon speakers. I can tell you with my stock HU, the whole sound system hurts my ears, the quality is terrible. It is sooo far from clean and has nearly no bass. I am thinking about adding subs, amp (for subs only), and a new HU, because I can get all these very cheap from friends, but I need to know if that will really improve my sound or just add a lot of bass to a garbage sound system....
In other words, will a new HU make my infinity\clareon mix sound better or should I just scrap them all?

Also, I have a friend that says he can get me a set of custom kick panels. Do these really make much dif? Are they worth getting?

if you can afford it, get rid of all that stock stuff. from what i hear even the infinity sound is low power and not clear. your better off with something like a pioneer or alpine HU, amp & speakers. listen to a lot of diff manufacturers before you decide.

A after market head unit will improve your sound more than you think it will. After market head units have more cleaner power than factory even the top of the line factory is no match.

I just finished my sound system today after 2 years of planning it, haha. Nothing is stock. Names such as Alpine are really not impressive. Panasonic and Pioneer are the best value speakers in my opinion. Here's what I rate my system...
Panasonic HU *****
Pioneer 4 ways *****
Alpine Type S ***
Kicker S8L7 ****
Sony Digital Amp (900 RMS) ***

just found out i got the hook up, I just hired a guy that worked at best buy and he's giving me anything I want for cost plus 5%!!! I'm getting an Alpine HU that's pretty basic because it looks like all I need, then the Alpine type R speakers sounded extremely good compared to every other brand (panasonic, sony, etc) then I was given two sony xplode subs and a 2x500 amp for them so I
m about to have a half decent system. Also, my friend with the kick panels is hooking me up on the install, he is a professional. I'm not putting in the kick panels though because he said I would have to lose my emergency brake. I'll tell you how it sounds and the total cost for eveyrthing in a couple weeks.
