Right now I have a 10" Alpine Type S dual 4 ohm sub rated at 300 watts RMS and I am thinking about getting the Alpine MRD-M301 amp which is rated at 350 watts x 1 @ 2oms. So I would just have to wire my sub up in parallel and I should be fine? This is all going into a 2000 reg cab so I think it should be enough and just wanted to make sure I was going to be hooking it up right.

CJ, you are correct, if you wire them in parallel you will end up with a 2 ohm load. For future reference: If you wire speakers in series you just add the impedances together. If you wire them in parallel then this equation is used: 1/R (Impedance total)=1/R1 (Impedance of speaker 1) + 1/R2 (Impedance of speaker 2) + 1/R3 + 1/R4 + ... So for your situation 1/R= 1/4 + 1/4. So 1/R = 2/4 = 2 OHM load.

nice bit of info to keep in mind.

Also, i think Rockford fosgate has a Wiring guide for your subs. not sure how well it works, but it is worth taking a look at.

And... MTX has a really really good tech support. Its worth browsing through sometime.

I just saw a tiny little mistake in my formula:
So 1/R = 2/4 = 2 OHM load, that is not exactly correct the correct answer is R= 2 OHM. You have to take the reciprocal of the final value.
