Subject: replacing infinity speakers? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, the Infinity speakers in my 2000 quad-cab are sounding busted. I bought some time with some silicone but now it's time to replace. I've heard you can't just buy any speaker to replace these that they won't work. Anybody been through this and have some advice? Thanks in advance.

Message: Im not sure what size speaker a QC needs more then likely 6.5 maybe you might get away with 6.75 in rears. But the main concern your stock speakers are 2ohm and all aftermarket speakers are 4ohm. So this means if you keep all stock equipment. (Head Uint,Amp) your new speakers will be half as loud as your old ones.. Better then no sound tho..

Message: The stockers are 6.75. You can use 6.5, but you'll need to buy, or make, some adapter plates.
I ran after-market speakers off the stock HU for about a year. You'll need to increase the volume control a couple of notches, but it's not a problem.
