well thats a little too much for wut im willing to pay for subs. so im gonna try out my idea and see how well it works.

my dad has got a huge sheet of wut looks like 1/2" mdf that im gonna use. it may be 3/4" but it kinda looked like 1/2" to me and i didnt feel like measuring it, i will later. so now all i have to pay for is the subs and amp.

also wut if i made a fiberglass bottom shaped into the tool tray? that should give it enough stability so that the walls wont flex. it would also make it into a completely sealed box. i dont think im gonna do this yet but its a thought for later when i feel like making a better quality box.

would the tool tray area be deep enough for a 12" sub?

grimm, not the way i was talkin about. i have givin up on tryin to fit 8's in there.

thats rite, i finally give. my buddies subs are shaped different than i thought and they are alot deeper.

but i now have another idea. and im sure all of you will like this one better. im gonna sacrifice the use of the 1 rear seat and put a box there. i have already cut a piece of mdf in the shape to fit into the tool tray. but instead of trying to mount subs in it, im gonna build a box on top of it. the front will be at a 45 degree angle facing up and out towards you and i think it will look better and perform alot better.

i will still have the little rear seat if i need to carry an extra passenger, and to solve my fear of sum1 breaking in to steal them, my buddy has suggested the highly technical blanket security system. if im sumwhere where people mite break in, ill just throw a blanket over them so people cant see them. im really never in places like that anyway.

do you know how deep the tool tray would be if i cut it out. a JL audio 12" i was looking at it only about 5-3/4" deep so im thinkin that just might work...

I tried cutting part of my tray out and mounting a 10" sounded alright, but not that good. Don't waste your time, money and materials. Your best bet is to buy a thunderform. Sounds great and you can't tell its there. I know its pricey, but in the long run you'll be alot happier with it. I found a pretty good deal on ebay, just be patient.

Just my 2 cents.

Almost forgot. There is a lot of room where in the rear where your stock speakers are supposed to go, I've heard a couple of guys on this site have put some subs there.

im just gonna take out the longer rear seat and put a box on top of the tool tray. then later if i feel like buying a thunderform i will. or just build one like a thunderform. i dont wanna spend too much rite now and need a temporary box that will also sound descent.
