Subject: Reg cab, wanting to put 12" sub
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey, I was wanting to put a 12" sub and an amp in my regular cab R/T, and know it's pretty cramped to fit that setup in... what're some points of advice to work this out/ I was thinking of putting the amp and box all on the passenger side, with the amp under the seat, box and sub behind the seat. any thoughts? anybody know where I could find a good slim box for behind my seat? thanks in advance.

it shouldn't be as hard as it seems, just make sure to plan it out well. as for the box, you're better off either making it yourself or having a shop do it for you. your idea sounds good though. you might also consider putting the amp behind your seat. good luck.

yeah, the only parts I haven't figured out is where to put the spare tire jack, it'd give so much more room to not have it in the way!! and what affect the heat from the amp will do to the foam of the seats, whether or not it'll deform it... I've got the interior stripped down, I'm taking a look at everything in place tomorrow. I was looking at wiring daigrams, and it shows an amp in the "premium" sound system already, anyone know where its at? I've got the ( I think all R/Ts had it) 8 speaker infinity setup, and am going for a whole new sound system... I blew out three of the factory speakers.

yeah the spare tire jack sucked having to cut out the mount and relocate. i cut mine out with a dremel tool and was gonna relocate it somewhere in the cab but since i put two subs i had no room anywhere else that i could see of. i have a toolbox so i just tossed everything in it and went about my business. if you dont have anywhere other than the cab to store it then, yeah, it'll probably be a b1tch to relocate. if im not mistaken your factory amp should be behind your passenger kickpanel. btw, are you planning on any sound deadning? it made a big difference in my friends car. no road noise now and no neighbors complaining like they were before.

nah, I'm not worried about the sound deadner, my exhaust is pretty loud, and I haven't had any complaints yet. thanks for the info on the factory amp. would it be best to wire up my amp before, or after the factory one?

WTF is up with those dinky 4 inch rear speakers the factory put in there? any decent way to mount a better/larger speaker there?
