A flux capacitor makes for a good secondary power source, though they are VERY expensive and down right sometimes impossible to find.
Oh BTW, don't connect it backwards or reverse polarity. You, your truck and anything within 10' from the flux capacitor will be sent into never-never land. You could be 100 years in the past or 100 years in the future, just be careful ;-P

If he is SERIOS about NOt wanting to drain his battery to start his truck. He COULD add a Deep Cycle battery for the stereo. Using a battery ISOLATOR for charging.
I've got a deep cycle, but no isolator yet.
I just needed the battery so my PC based stereo would not trip when I started the truck after it sat a few.
