Subject: I need help on wirring IP: Logged
Message: I Have an audiobahn a4002t amp. This is a two channel amp as of fight now it is powering two ten inch infinites. It sounds good but i dont think i have it running at a 2ohm load so im only getting 100 Watts rms. When we instaled it we just hooked up each sub to one side of the amp. One sub on right channel other sub on left channel. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO HOOK IT UP TO A 2OHM LOAD AND GET 400W RMS SO I CAN MAKE THEASE INFINITIES POUND. remember its a 2 channel amp.

Message: Ok heres what you to do IF ur subs are 4ohms you wire them in parallel and and bridge ur amp
Go to Crutchfield.com look at two channel amps (any one) download owners manual you will see this type of hook up

Message: assuming your subs are 4ohm, parallel and them bridging them will present a 1ohm load seem per channel....odds are that amp isn't going to like that very much at all.

Message: after talking to some people this is what i think i need to do connect both power wires of the sub together and hook it up to the right channel on the amp. Then connectect the ground wires on the subs and hook that up to the left chanel on the amp. to connect the wires on sub do i souter them. sorry dont know how to spell souter(soutering iron is what i mean)

Message: IF your amp is 2 Ohm Stable, and your speakers are 4 ohm EACH, then you can use the doubling method. Positives go to one channel (+), negatives go to the other (-).
Make sure your amp is 2 ohm MONO stable, or you're gonna melt it and be sorry. Some amps say they are 2 ohm STEREO stable, but this means they are really 4 ohm mono stable. Also, make sure your speakers are 4 ohm, (almost every single voice coil sub is anyways) or they'll blow.
Also, make sure the gain on your amp is correct, and sufficient power is going into your amp. Sometimes a weak ground causes little power to circulate through the amplifier. I had to scrape the paint of a bolt, and then my amp was 300% better.
I tried to draw a picture of your setup, but it deleted all the spaces! Oh well, its pretty easy, if you have any questons just ask man.

Message: alec tell me if this is right. im going to connect both power wires into one, then i will hook them up on one of the channels but to the power side. Then i will connect both the ground wires into one wire then connect it to the opposit channel but on the negitive side. Isnt this called bridging?
I have two SVC 4 ohm subs
i cut and pasted some specs for my amp from crutchfield
» 100 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
» 200 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
» 400 watts RMS x 1 bridged output
» stereo or bridged mono output
with my plan will imelt my amp or am i on the right path thanx for the help

Message: Your specs didn't say at what OHM you could run bridged?
Only few amps are 2 ohm stable when running mono (bridged).
Oh, and stero, or bridged, putting two 4 ohm loads inparallel is still just 2 ohms, never 1 ohm.
Bridging your amp does nothing but put the two channels outputs (AC sinewave) in series with one of the signals out of phase. Like putting two batteries together in series, you get twice the voltage to your load. 2 ohm loads will pull twice the power than a 4 ohm load with the same voltage applied. So make sure it's 2 ohm stable at mono (bridged) because that could be a LOT of power. Like 120VAC going to that sub. Same thing as plugging it into the wall outlet except tht would be a steady 60hz!

Message: In my opinion, you need to get a better amp. Even if the amp you have is 2 ohm mono stable, it still only has 200 RMS. Thats not much bass at all. My one Kicker L7 8" Is pushing 400RMS or more from my amp.
Many internet stores have good 2 ohm mono stable amps. Just go to Yahoo! shopping and selct Electronics-> Car Audio->Amplifiers.
The third one down is the one i purchased, the SONY XM-DS1600P5. Its everything you could need. It comes with a volume switch that lets you turn down the bass if it's too loud...and I always have it down cuz it has so much power.
I blieve I purchased mine from Techtronics last year...anyways, they have a good deal with free SH it says. Ths thing retails for $350, and I saw it at Best Buy a few years back for $399. It's worth evey penny, and I'll be using It for years to come.
Your setup will plug easily into this and run perfectly. If you have any more questions, just ask.

Message: Thanx for the help my amp when in bridge mode can handle a 4 ohm load. so the way i wanted to set up my amp i would have it at a 2 ohm load . Then how do i wire up my subs so that i dont melt my amp.
Alec sorry but getting another amp is just not possible as i dont have the money to buy another one or a place to put it in my truck.

Message: You have your subs and amp configured optimally. To get more power out of your amp you will need to get 2 ohm subs, DVC 4 ohm subs or a single 4 ohm sub allowing you to run 2 ohms stereo or 4 ohms bridged.
If one of your subs can handle the power,, bridge the amp and run just one of the subs off the amp. But, that's if one of the subs will handle 400Wrms.
I have an SVC 4 ohm Infinity Perfect 12 running off a bridged RF 301S pushing about 350W,,, it pounds hard ;-)

Message: You said that your amp was 4 ohm stable when bridged. The bad thing is that a 2 ohm load is actually a less restrictive current than a 4 ohm. You can hurt your amp if you use both speakers. You can bridge your amp to one speaker, but not 2.
You should be pretty happy with this setup if you bridge it to one speaker (400W RMS or more capable, of course). If you need to know how to do that, just ask.
Senior project...haha I have to do one too. Im doing mine on digital music, and how the record industries are lying about declining record sales. For my related project I produced a whole song, and made it free to the public. I hate giving speeches though...April 18.
If you have any questions just ask man.
