Subject: Adapters for rear speaker holes???? IP: Logged
Message: I bought some 6 1/2" Boston Acoustic speakers to replace my rear factory speakers on my 2000 Dakota but the speaker hole appears to be more like 7 1/2". Does anyone make an adapter to take care of this? The hole is supposed to only 6 1/2" and hold a 6 1/2" speaker.

Message: make some adapters out of wood like 3/8" mdf and if theres ont enought room mount the speakers to the back side and then mount the wood. it will take up the space around the speaker and seperate the rear waves from the front waves. also put poly fill in the hole or undercoating to dampen the chamber. so the speaker wont sound like its playing in a tin can. but thats problay more indepth then most people would go.

Message: I have a 98 ex cab kota set up for SPL competition,, i ran into the same problem you did when i put my audiobahn speakers in the back,,, they are 6.5"... what i done was called and ordered vehicle specific brackets from crutchfield,, when you get them you will have to do some cutting on the inside of them to get ur spider of the speaker to fit in the bracket,,, but its not that hard,, get a grinder or something and just drill the insides of them out until they fit,,, they are plastic tho, so you might want to look at some dynamat to go around them.
