Subject: Speaker & Amp??
IP: Logged

Message:
I want to get this amp Alpine MRP240. I have infinity reference 5 1/4" front and 6 1/2" back, will this amp be too much because it says 40 x 4 RMS. The front speakers say 2-45 RMS and the back is 2-50 RMS. Will 40 RMS be too much power? Will I blow the speakers by pushing them too hard. The factory HU is running at 22 x 4 RMS so will 40 sound any better. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I have that amp, and I'm usiing it to power a pair of Infinity ref 6002SI's in the front of my Quad Cab. I bridged the amp, and now have a 100w rms to each speaker. The infinity's are rated at 40w rms. They work really nice with some good power, the only thing I had to do is set the HP filter on the 240 amp and put inline 100 hx filters that I got from Crutchfield in line with my RCA's. My rear speakers I have running off my deck power. I use them for rear fill only. Same set of speakers in the back as the front. My deck is any Alpine CDM-9803. It has two sets of pre outs that can be configured to run the front and sub or front and rear. The 40 x 4 will do a nice job for you it just won't be pounding. I hope this helps.
