Subject: QC Thunderform Vibration IP: Logged
Message: I just installed a MTX Thunderform box in my 2004 QC. The one that fits behind drivers side rear seat. I notice that I'm getting obnoxious vibrating noises from the box at moderate to high levels. I was wondering if anyone else with the similar box is experencing the same problem? If you were what did you do to correct? Also, if your not getting vibrations did you just slide the box in behind the seat or do some cutting or sound deadening? Plase let me know, as this noise is driving me crazy.

Message: I saw a QC Thunderform on Ebay a while back and the sub's surround was all beaten up from hitting the seat. From what I remember, the damage was about 1/3 of the way up the sub, nice crease in the surround. If the sub is hitting the seat it will make wierd noises and possibly destroy the sub.
Put some tape on the back of the seat and cover the tape with,,, heck I don't know,,, grease, jelly, oil, something that will transfer to the sub. Then crank up the Thunderform and see if the stuff on the tape transfers to the sub. If it does the sub is too close to the seat. Installing a grille over the sub might keep the seat away from the sub.

Message: I'm reposting with my findings. My buddy and I installed sound deadener behind the sub and along the rest of the rear cab wall. Needless to say, this helped greatly. I now have better bass sound because the vibrations are much less, and the sound does not carry out of the back with the rattles and such. I very happy with the results. As far as the sub hitting, I don't have that problem. I'm using an RT1004 MTX 10" sub, and the excursion is such that it sounds good but does not beat the crap out of the seat. The sub box fits tight, but there are ridge type pieces around the sub surround that keep the sub indented. I hope this helps. Would I buy one again? Yes, unless I built my own. This box is great for some one who wants bass that is not booming. The bass hits good but does not take away from the rest of the sound quality.

Message: First off, for some of the previous posters, note that the original poster is referring to the QC T-form, not the CC T-form.
DSW, that damage that you saw is probably from the support wire that runs at about the mid seatback level.
While I don't have the T-form, I have put a Q-logic truck box and a Kicker L7 behind that seat. I taped a couple of pieces of scrap wood around the sub box opening to "push" the seatback and support bar forward such that the sub wouldn't rub. I've check, and the L7 appears to still be in good shape, but the L7 isn't exactly pushing the Xmax envelope either.
