Message: Hey guys, I just got a pair of Infinity Perfect 6.1's installed in my truck and they sound unbelievable. Before this i had a pair of alpine spr-175's but wanted cleaner/more powerful speakers. I was planning on hooking the alpine speakers up in the rear but someone offered to buy them. Is there any point in hooking up rear speakers if i have high quality fronts? I've heard this can mess with the soundstage. Thanks, dodgeee-O.

Message: Don't bother with the rear speakers, they only degrade your sound stage. With them being so close to your ears they will over power the front. Just leave the factory ones in there and turn them way down so you can barely hear them.
I put some good coaxial speakers in the rear and didn't like it so they got unplugged.

Message: Why not throw some 6 1/2" subs in there..theye will give you some mid bass without really killing the sound stage

Message: You could if you had a crossover on those mids so not to hear the upper frequencies. I set mine back up playing 2000hz and down with just a tad of power. After all I had to justify buying rear speakers.

Message: I have Rockford Fosgates in the rear that are powered from the head unit (underpowered) and componants in the front that are powered of a 2 channel amp and the t form powered off another 2 channel amp...The rears are only acting as fill...Dont really hear them, but would prolly notice if I disconnected em

Message: Thanks for your replies!
I have a pair of infinity perfect 10's for subs so i'm not concerned about more mid bass. I wasn't going to be hooking up the tweeters if I did install them, so I think i'm going to sell them. Any other suggestions welcome! dodgeee-O.

Message: My plans as of right now are to get a pair of fairly high end (such as Focal or Boston Acoustics) speakers for the fronts, with adjustable tweeters so I can point them where I need to; and to enlarge the rear speaker holes to accept a pair of 8" subs. I called JL Audio to ask them about this (they sell a free-air 8" sub called the 8IB4) and the guy I spoke to has a friend who has done this on his Dak. According to him it sounds REAL good. And if all else failed I could always rotozip a hole in the rear and install some tweeters.
Current mods: A MUFFLER. That's it. (For now.) Future mods: Tonneau cover Underdrive pulleys Removal of clutch fan K&N FIPK 17
