Subject: 1 Huge Amp IP: Logged
Message: Right now i have a 1998 Dodge Dakota CC w/ the 2.5l 5sp. As of now i have 2 12" Kicker Comp. Vrs each in a 2.25 Slot ported box. It is pretty loud, but i'm ready to upgrade. I want to use an amp i saw on Ebay, the Hifonics BX1500 to power 2 big Kicker S15L7's. I was wondering if my mostly stock electrical system could handle this amp. I have all 4guage wiring, and a brand new battery. With the amp i have now, i can crank it all the way up and the lights still don't dim at all. The hifonics amp will be the only amp on the system, running at 1 ohms so i could get the full 1500W X 1. I was just wondering how my electrical system would handle this?

Message: Your lights will dim LOL!
My OLD HiPhonics ZUES (600W) would dim my sh*t. my current amp (480W) dims my lights to the beat slightly and my V8 Dak has the bigger battery and alternator that came with the tow package.
I recently installed a second DEEP CYCL battery and my lights still dim slightly. It's because the alternator is running things peaked at close to 14VDC and your amp will spike it down as it draws power.
1500W X 1 is s sh*t load. And probably the rating for 2 ohms or maybe even 1 ohm.
Ok just looked it up. It looks like that is at 1 ohm. Looks to be about 450W into one 4 ohm sub. It may run two of those subs at 450W each and that would be a 2 ohm load to the amp (900 or so watts total). That's still enough to probably fry them suckers if you are not careful :-)
I just had to replace my single 10" RF P2 Sub today. I keep overpowering that poor thing.
I think I may have to find a way to install a second sub in my quad cab this summer when I have extra $$$
That means finding a new place to mount my computer so another sub can go behind that seat :-(
Oh. When I was in Best Buy exchanging my sub under warranty (for the 5th time) the guy said he also had a quad cab dakota. He said his dad has a auto shop, so they did something to relocate the fuel tank and dropped in a space under the seats for 3 12's!!!
I should have asked to look at his Dak.
