Subject: '04 factory stereo in '93 Dakota? IP: Logged
Message: My dad owns a 93' Dakota king cab, and I can get a good deal on a factory CD player that came out of a '04 Dodge. It would be nice for him to be able to listen to his jazz CD's, and I don't want to turn his truck into a thief magnet, so I'm thinking an OEM stereo and a nice, inexpensive set of speakers should do the trick... Question is, can it be done?
I imagine the wiring harness is different, that's to be expected, but is the size and depth of the opening the same? It looks like some kind of funky 1 1/2 DIN opening, and I don't have Dad's truck to look at & compare notes. (He lives in Montana. I live in California. I drive a Ford).
Answers, anyone?

Message: The wiring harness and faceplate are considerably different. The '04 uses a rounded "flush mount" bezel, which won't fit in the '93's trim. Nor will it mount to the dash, since the mounting points are different. You need a "conventional mount" Chrysler radio like this one.
