Subject: Ground rca's? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone ever have to grond there rca's to get there amp to work good. When I first hooked up my amp it would send sound in spurts and make a poping noise like when you first turn it on. As soon as the pass thru was hooked up to my other amp it was ok till today. It shut off and then came back on but very stadicky then back off again. When I got home and started investigating I grounded the outside of the rca and voila crstal clear again. Even without the passthru hooked up. Just wondering if this is common or if I need to rewire the whole damn system. Iv'e wired many stereo's before and never before had such a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Message: Eric P, I used construction screws and a power drill to secure my amps to the floor underneath the seats and as a result, I don't have to run any ground wires whatsoever.Which is ggod because its one less wire on each amp going to a foreign location.

Message: I haven't personally run into any problems with it, but using the mounting screws as the grounds could introduce ground loops, which can itself cause noise problems.

Message: Yeah I tried mounting it to the floor but it didn't change anything. Having a friend check it out for me. Thanks guys. Buy the way I think it screwed up my head unit as well. My wife had my truck all week and she says the stereo cuts off and on every couple of minutes. Same crap different day for me.
