Subject: Stock pre-amp wiring Q IP: Logged
Message: I've replaced my factory infinity components with CDTs, but I've decided I need an amp to push them properly. I want to keep the stock head unit for now, so I'm wondering if anybody knows what the voltage is on the stock pre-amp wiring. Do I need a hi/lo converter, or are they compatible with an aftermarket amp if I tap the pre-amp wires as is?

Message: I just replaced my factory amp in my 2002 CC as well. The input from the stock head unit to the stock amp are speaker level inputs.. I chose an amp that had both pre amp inputs and speaker level inputs. I extended the factory wiring to the new amp and all worked well using the speaker level inputs on the new amp..

Message: OK, thanks. My wires are in place, I'm just waiting on delivery of my amp. I decided to go with a speaker->pre-amp converter from circuit city. Hope it works ok.

Message: I wrote about a wiring harness "adapter" that plugs in between stock harness and back of factory radio, it gives you (2) pair of pre-amp rca outputs. I think the name had something to do with "Chrysler OEM", but I am not sure. Do some searches under the audio section, you might find it. It works great
