Subject: 89 convertible roll bar removal IP: Logged
Message: The engineer that put the two rear speakers behind the roll bar should be forced to replace all blown speakers. I removed the six bolts that hold the roll bar in place and it still won't come out. My dealer has no service manual and gave up. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE TRICK TO REMOVE THE ROLL BAR IN AN 89 CONVERTIBLE?

This is kind of off the subject but might shed some light. My folks had a Chevy Citation and I tagged something one night and bent the rim and blew the tire. When I tried to remove the spare it was stuck to the floor of the car, the rubber undercoating in the spare tire well and many summers in the Arizona heat baked the tire into the undercoating. The spare tire wouldn't budge and they only way we got the tire out was to soak the tire and undercoating in laquer thinner and tied a rope to the tire and a telephone pole. After letting the laquer thinner soak for a while we were able to pull the tire out by yanking it out with the car, but not before a cop arrived,,, so the spare tire is stuck in the trunk eh,,, have you been drinking this evening LOL

Message: The roll bar will lift up about 1 inch, but will not come out.
