Subject: where are the crossovers???? IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02 CC with 6spk infinity system
Im going to buy a component system that has external crossovers for the front doors
My question is where does the crossovers exist for my factory tweeters in the doors sails? does the crossover happen on the factory amp and I dont need to install the x-over that I get or
Can just slap in the new tweeters and connect the factory wiring that was hooked up to the factory tweeters?
Or are the x-overs part of the factory tweeter
and I will need to install the external x-overs ??
Thanks in advance

Message: My understanding is that there are not any crossovers per se. The filtering (highs go to tweeter, lows go to midbass) takes place at the factory amp. All you have to do is swap out the old components for your new ones using the existing wiring.
Save the crossovers from your new components should you ever decide to bypass the factory amp...

Message: I just replaced the components, and I think the crossovers/filters are part of the tweeters themselves. I ran the power wire that goes to the stock mids into the aftermarket crossovers, and I can hear the full range just fine. I just left the stock tweeter power wire disconnected, and everything is running fine. Now, I just need to amp the new speakers.
