Subject: Customer Fiberglass box on sale!!!!! IP: Logged
Message: Dear fellow Dodge Dakota owners:
My name is Josh and I am a dodge owner. Last year I created a box for my truck. This box holds two ten inch subs and and sounds epic!. I make custom enclosures out of fiberglass. I have an auction on ebay selling my box. Also, I make these boxes for dodge dakota club cab trucks. The modle years are 97-04 that I can make the box for. If you would like to purchase a box from me please contact me. My email is jschaap@unr.nevada.edu. I promise you that I make boxes for far cheaper then all car audio stores. This is because I am not a middle man. I make these boxes only by myself. I have years of experience. I also have some pictures of my work if you would like to see.
Thanks for you time,
Josh

Message: what weight glass mat do you use? how many layers? how do you finnish the boxes? is this 100% F/G or do you use MDF for the flat parts? What about volume matching to the specific subs? speaker wire terminals?

Message: I use the tightest weave possible to ensure that its air tight. I usually do between 4-7 layers, I also use some weave that gives it strenght its not as tight but its stronger for long flat areas. Also, i use 3/4 in. mdf for the sides and top. This gives it incredible strength, also the mdf makes better sound quality. The fiberglass is for the bottom so that it fits exactly to the bottom of the truck so that I dont loose air space. I have calculated the volume and it is roughly 1.75-1.8 cubic feet. Most sub boxes dont even come close to that for a dodge dak. Also, yes i do use air tight terminals.

Message: What is 5.9? When you mean experience do you mean experience building boxes? I have been building boxes for a few years now. Also I have the v6 dodge dakota slt extended cab 97'. Do you have a 5.9 v8 that you are interested in putting a box into? Like I said in the earlier message, I am kinda a nooby to this forum and its jargon.

Message: Hey josh what is the mounting depth for you box's and how much for one shipped to area code 06085?How about leaving some space between the subs for our amps? I use my back seat for my kids and would like to find a place other than the floor for my amp and at 2.5"s it dont fit under the seat.

Message: Eric,
Hi, I just got home. I looked at your message on ebay. I need to know exactly the distance from the bottom part of your seat to the floor. Try to measure where the bump for the transmission is. This is what im thinking, currently, I dont have my seats raised and when they lay on the box, they are just ever so slightly angled upwards. Now if your seats are two inches higher, what I could do is provide more lifts for you so that your seats rest on the lifts and not the subs itself. This could potentially allow the seats to rest normally and fit an amp there. Again please measure the total distance from the floor in the middle of the truck to the bottom part of the seat.
Thanks,
Josh Schaap

Message: I checked your auction, the box looks nice. A few questions, do both subs share the same airspace(are there separate chambers for each sub)? Could you make a box to fit 2 12's? You should have a shipping cost or calculator on your auction.

Message: Hey guys,
Jon,
Yes I will be making a nother box please email me if your interested.
Kaoslhc,
Yes both subs share the same air space. If I closed the chambers, it would take up a lot of air space. Also, I was told that having them share the space would make a better sound. Am I wrong on this? I asked aguy at a car audio place about that. Also, yes i could probably make it for 2 12's but you might have to leave your seats up becuase i would have to make the box taller to increase the air space. Currently, the air space is 1.8 cubic feet.
Please email me about other questions you guys have. I will be making more boxes. Also, I will be calculating shipping costs on friday. I looked at the mtx thunderform, and the shipping should be around 40 bucks but I will know for sure on friday.
my email is: jschaap@unr.nevada.edu

Message: The space from floor to seat on the hump is 5". Even if it takes away a little air space I like the idea of having seperate chambers in case something ever happens to one of my subs I can just take it out without hurting performance of the other sub. Instead of raising the speakers i was thinking of just making a new spacer for the seat ontop of your box so I could put my amp between the speakers up off the floor and out of sight. Let me know what you think.
