Message: with www.crutchfield.com they prolly have detailed instructions. might cost ya a little though. as far as your 10 gage wire, there should be a big grommet on the firewall near the steering column you could use.

Message: If you go the Crutchfield route, make sure to call them first. When I bought my 02, in late 01, I ordered speakers from them just for the instructions and converters. I found out, after they arrived with no instructions or wire converters, that they did not have the 02 instructions done yet.
Actually, that is when I started searching around and found this site.

Message: anyone have idas on the door panels? all 4 doors look very much the same. 2 low bolts, one in the handle pocket and one in the latch. should I just start working at the bottom of the doors with my plastic wedge to get the tabs and panels off? maybe even if someone did a 04' they might be close where the tabs are located? crutchfield has no info yet I've call and emailed 3-4 times.

Message: That sounds exactly the same as the door panels in my '04 CC, except that i think there was one more up by the mirrors. Anyway, on '04s, the door panels actually lift straight up- there are no pop-out tab to press them to the door, there are just little hooks that grab slots in the sheetmetal when you put the door in place and press down. Try that first before you start prying.

Message: that is what I've read on the '04 but NO screw at the top where the tweeter would be. so I worry a little they might have the dreaded clips that bust. will probably start this weekend. will report back for others. thanks. probably alpine sps-170a in front and back as I need to keep fairly stock without visible mods. will add a new 05 alpine deck and ipod controller in a month or so. thanks guys.

Message: I'm doing an O4 CC myself and saw the response from Dave. The
door panels lift straight up? What about the rear panels. I'm
removing my tool box to make an amp rack. I've gotten
instructions off the Thunderform site that pretty much says you
have to remove all of the panels to get the toolbox out.

Message: dropped all 4 doors off my 05 QC. front and rears the same remove 2 lower screws, one in latch, one in cup handle. fronts have little plastic tabs over handle screws remove carefully. fronts also have a little yellow tree clip rehind where the mirror is so watch that. pull up then out on handle and wiggle it will come free. rear doors same except a trim piece on back of window they pop off with a little work then get something flat (none scratching for your paints sake) and pop off the 3 clips (carefully) one top one middle one bottom. FWIW to anyone who cares.
distance to power windows when all the way down varies from front to back doors. front has about a inch or less clearance from door to window behind basket. rear doors have about 2 inches. FYI. used existing baskets for front with adapter and made some custom items for rear for my choice of speakers to fit but pretty easy - just a little hacking at this and that to mount everything but nothing undoable to replace stock. didn't write down wire colors sorry guys (I used a 1.5 battery on the stock speakers to get polarity)
replace factory speakers with (4) alpine sps-170a 6 1/2" 2 ways (got them for $60 and change a pair at CC on sale great deal as they came with usable adaptor rings) all I can say is 500% improvement! really amazing with the stock CD only head unit still installed they really are crystal clear and to be honest some serious base without wavering for 2 ways - baseline EQ but I did boost bass to +8 (they are just so clear) and it is real nice. waiting on the new alpine headunits for 05 to come out to replace stock. BUT now I can at least drive the thing - stock was horrible.
FYI

Message: I was told that the 2005 Dakota uses the same wiring harness, dash kit, and antenna adapter that the 2004 Durango uses. To remove the panel in the center, look at the panel you should see 2 screws at the very bottom (you can use a screwdriver phillips or a socket set) they are very short screws, remove them, lift the panel carefully, the a.c harness that connects to the controls disconnet very easily, your second generation air bag disconnets easily also. Once you have the panel removed using a phillips screwdriver you can remove 4 screws and the stock deck slides out.

what dash kit did you use to cover those stock stereo knob cutouts on the side? just curious how it looks
I was told th 2005 was different wiring? maybe I was told wrong? maybe you were that is why it isn't working?

Message: www.audiooutfitter.com is the best price! I have seen on the web!
From Scoshe CR02B ($7.18) wire harness is for 02 and up chrysler vehicles, i will find out today if that is a true statement.
From Scoshe CRAB ($8.88) antenna adapter, I have installed it does work!
From Scoshe CR1286B ($10.14) dash kit, i have installed and fits the dash and the oval cut outs. Looks great just need to figure out the stereo.
If you are looking for better prices just drop the "B", Audi Outfitter adds the "B" I guess for there stock!
I hope this help you out!

Message: Update! I got the stereo on it seems like the wire harness CR02 does not match up perfectly with harness that comes with the truck. My ignition did not line up everything is did. So if you want to wait until a new harness is designed go ahead or you can buy the CR02 and just run you ignition wire straight to the ignition.

Message: Hey -
After reading this thread I got my panel removed and pulled out the stock stereo. I have disconnected the wiring at the back but cant get the antenna disconnected. I pulled pretty hard but didnt want to damage it so gave up. Is it supposed to pull out cleanly, or is there a screw involved?
Thanks!
