I purchased a couple of 8 guage amp wiring kits from judysdeals on Ebay since other guys here mentioned that they were a real nice kit and pretty cheap. WRONG, the power and ground wire in the kits isn't 8ga wire, it's more like 12ga. The funny thing is, the guage number is not written on the wire, your guess is as good as mine to what actual guage of wire is.
Just wanted to give everyone fair warning because some guys might not notice that these kits are wrong. If you have one of these kits on a high powered amp 300W^ you better look at the size of the wire closely.
Most of the stuff I get off Ebay is a real good deal,,, not this one!

Size isn't everything. It's the quality of the wire and the strand count, too. An oxygen free high strand count wire of 12awg can carry a higher load than a typical 10 (or even some 8awg).
Sounds like you get ripped off, hope you left some neg. feedback for that seller...

Er, cross-sectional area is what counts. Strand count is rather meaningless when it comes to DC.

I am raggin on the seller for the next couple of days, then I'll have to put a complaint into Ebay. I looked at thier feed back and I am not the only one who has complained about these amp kits. The sellers coment to the feedback complaints is, the wire is smaller because it's tightly wrapped,,, yeah right!
Thier supposed 8ga power wire is only 12ga, and thier supposed 12ga speaker wire is somewhere around 20 ga wire. I only spent $30, but I am not letting this go. Just imagine how many people they have ripped off so far.

Well, it looks handeling this in a professional manner has paid off since they are shipping out a couple of $18 4ga kits to replace the $7 8ga kits. I get the feeling thier 4ga kits are not "actually" 4ga though. Heck as long as they are 8ga or larger I'll be happy.
I bet If I had started demanding things and making threats they wouldn't have come through.
Funny thing about the whole situation, I could have gone down to Wally World and got the same things cheaper. Oh well it worked out OK since I wouldn't have been able to get 2 - 4ga (or what ever guage they are) kits for $30 anywhere else.
Live-n-learn, that's why they call it Flea Bay, 1 problem out of 40 things I got off Ebay isn't too bad.
