Message: I have an idea for a killer sub install in my RC 2003 Dakota R/T.
The install will be completed by the end of Feb. (I am having other custom work done in the mean time) and I will post pics at that time.
Here is the idea:
Replace the seats with Corbeau TS2 seats to give more room between the seating area (my truck came with the bench seat from the factory and it sucks a$$). Build a custom center fiberglass consel housing 2 down firing 10" Kicker Solo-Baric LS7 speakers and 2 Kicker SX1250.1, 312W x 1 (1 Ohm stable) Amps. The Fiberglass consel will be painted the same as the exterior of my truck (Bright Silver Metallic) with a clear Plexiglass/Lexan top to view the Amps and Speakers.
The infinity speakers and infinity amp will be scrapped for Kicker componets and a 4 channel amp for the mids and highs.
This will all set me back just over 4K by my calculations. The measureements all work out well since the Kicker Solo Barics require little space and a lot of amp power.
Has anybody done something similar? I have heard of custom center consels, however, I think they were all done with the stock seats and were made very small. My center consel will begin at the back cab wall and continue all the way to the dash. It will be smooth similar to getting into a Corvette. Both Passenger and Driver side will be Isolated. What do you think???

Message: that sounds like a really cool idea. but why would you want to put all that weight in a reg cab r/t?
you can have a lot less work, a lot less weight, and save what little interior space you have by cramming something behind the seats. youll also save yourself a pretty penny too.

Message: are you doing all thw work or paying someone cuz 4000 for all that sounds a bit high. i wouldnt get kicker compoennts either they dont sound that great unless you get the ss series. i would get cdt or re components. and do you plan on bi amping them if not why a 4 channel amp?

Message: I don't like the ideas of mounting speakers behind the seats for 2 reasons important to me and that's sound dynamics and leg room .
The reason for bi-amping is because the kicker solo barics rock and require a lot of power, The price is high, because the componets are expensive and I forgot to mention the Eclipse CD8454 head unit. I am doing the work myself except for the fiberglass consel. Pictures coming next month.

Message: LOL!!!!! well i now know u have no idea what bi amping is. thats the components i was talkin about buddy. when you power the tweets and mids off of separate channels. and what kicker components? only expensive ones are the ss and if u are spending more than 300 or anywhere near 300 there is way better out there if you buy them online somewhere i know the ss are like 800 only way to be hitting 4000 is if you get ss components

Message: i'm running 2 solobaric 12 L7's and 2 memphis 1000d's , one amp per sub all running at 1 ohm
in a custom center console, between the rear seats, tens would fit but 12's would be better.
