Message: i'm putting two tens in my truck and tonight i was measuring and i think i got all my calcualtions right. i have an older box i never used but it can't go into my truck because of it being too deep at the top. i used it to give me an idea of what i was dealing with for losing seat space, and when i put it in, i noticed that i lose about 1" because of these two humps on my back panel. i unbolted the panel and looked behind and saw that i have two squares with plastic vent looking inserts in them. what is the purpose for these holes? and has anyone cut the humps out of the back panel to make the boxes fit more evenly? not sure what to do. i don't want to mess up my back panel and not know what i'm messing with. anyone know what to do?

Message: they're cab vents...without the vents it would be alot harder to shut the doors with out completely slamming them every time....you could take them off to save room, but run the risk of letting water in.

Message: alright, thanks for clearing that up for me. i think i've figured something out for that problem now that i've looked at it better. While i'm on the subject of subs, could someone explain to me how to get a 2-Ohm load to my 2 channel amp with 2-Ohm dual voice coil subs (2 of them). from what i've read it would be a series/parallel setup but i don't understand exactly how to run the wires. confirm this if i get it right:
(+) of left channel and (-) of right channel to opposite sided terminals of sub #1 (making it + and -)
(-) of left channel and (+) of right channel to opposite sided terminals for sub #2 (making it + and -)
then the left-over opposite sided (+) and (-) of sub #1 to each other
the left-over opposite sided (+) and (-) of sub #2 to each other
hopefully i didn't confuse anyone, but would that be it? i just want to make sure i'm reading the diagrams right. Thanks in advance for any help and Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Message: Since you have 2 dual voice coil subs with 2 ohm load each VC, you have several options.
1) wire all of them in parallel (you would need 4 +'s and 4 -'s ports), and would give you a 0.5 ohm load. WAYYYY too much. You will destroy your amp, do not use.
2) Wire each sub in a series (run the negative from first voice coil to the positive of the next), and then connect them to your amp. This will present a 2 ohm load. Use this one, it's perfect, if your amp is 2 ohm stable, and it sounds like you say it is. Make sure, or you will be sorry later.
3)Wire each sub seperately in a series, and then wire the subs together in a series. HAHAHA. Do not use this, it will present an 8 ohm load, and hardly any power will flow through them.
Just so you know, you should never wire only one voice coil of a dual voice coil subwoofer.
okay, so using the best choice, number two, your setup would be
Sub One------------------------------Sub Two
(-VC1&+VC2) in series--------(-VC1&+VC2) in series
Hook + from VC1 to amp------Hook + from VC1 to amp
Hook - from VC2 to amp-------Hook - from VC2 to amp
|+| |-|---------------------------------- |+| |-|
If you need more help just ask.
By the way, what type of amps and subs are you using?
