If your voltage regulator is working properly, you shouldn't be charging at 14.8V. That's a little high and could damge your batttery.

Ralph4u2c,
I just put a Kicker S8L7 in my 2000 QC, with the stock battery AND the stock 90 amp alternator. It was so loud, i had to turn it down. Unless you're looking for stupid loud bass, you should be able to handle up to 500 rms, with just a stock electrical system.

sorry to say but your not pushing 3000watts on a stock electrical system, at the BEST which wont happen your pushing 1296w w/ a 90A alternator and 14.4 volts or 1728 but your probably only at 14.0 and no telling how low your volts go down when the bass hits so looks like you need to upgrade like me :)

Optima Yellow Top "34/78" drops right in. The Optima Blue Top is model "D34M".

They're both exactly the same, except the blue top has marine wing nut terminals on top.

i cant find any but you may want to check a local audio store, they can prob. find you one or contact a alternator builder and theyll make you one. if you only need a bit more power get a 2.0 farad capacitor or bigger and a power pak that should do it unless your needing crazy more power.

Thanks anyway but I need mad power I think if I leave the stereo cranked up my voltage drops fast any my truck dies from loss of power I'm running 3-orions 275G4, 1-orion GS 1000, 2-orions 225G4 so I have MASS power eating amps. I put a battery charger on and tested with a amp probe just the amps are pulling 215 amps

Good Jesus.
I think 500 RMS of Bass is getting stupid, and im 18. I hate pulling up to cars with trunks rattling. I rather have a quality setup, which I can impress passengers with. My girlfriend hates bass, but she actually likes the nice setup I have in my Quad cab.
Im pretty sure that the guy/girl in the car next to you doesnt want to hear your radio. Also, a car radio, almost no matter the quality, will sound terrible from more than 5 feet away.

Don't get me wrong, I love QUALITY sound systems with a considerable amount of power, but at a point, it's stupid.

Sorry, I just had to say it. I hate going to high school and hearing the worst systems on the road played at full blast.

Alec I agree about all the rattling, my system is very high sound quality and you can hear mine a good ways away clear as hell so as far as that 5ft thing its not true

your comment is respected but getting off topic bro, we are talking about alt, caps, and other electronic products, not what you think is good. everyone has their own measures they take to a truck and to each his own, you must respect that. thats why they make extremely large engines, many engine performance peices, huge subwoofers, NX kits, bags, drop/lift kits etc.

back to topic, a guy at a local audio store said that Stinger who makes really good wiring sells alternators and they sound costly but worth a shot. i think the best idea is to email the 2 guys who make and sell alternators off ebay and see if you can send them your stock alternator for them to rewire it into a bigger amperage. im sure they would do it for you and its guaranteed to fit.

Yea thats what I thought I was just hoping to find one so I would not have to do that cause sometimes when you rewire a alt you will end up with engine noise

well when people say "rebuilt alternators" they are practically brand new except for the shell. i think with this one guy off ebay who has been around for like 25+ years doing this he could do it at a great price and without mistakes ya know. he may charge you more or you may want to pay more to get it tested and make sure it matches or exceeds its standards.
