Subject: New Speakers IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02 slt cc and one of my rear speakers is blown out. My question is what is a good pair of speakers I can get and not have to run an amp to power them. I am planning on getting four of them and just replacing all of the speakers, but I don't really feel like getting an amp, and I also don't know a whole bunch about car audio eaither. Any advice would be a big help. Thanks.

Message: Best advice is to goto a car audio place and listen to them. Each speaker has its own different sound. Youj do not have to worry too much about wattage since you are probably not going to put a lot of power to them. I have memphis belle speakers and I like them a lot.

Message: Thank you for the advice, one more question, how much should I be looking to spend per pair in order to make sure I get a good pair of speakers?

Message: I would say your upper limit should be around $150. You can probably go lower, but that depends on if you are using the stock head unit, and also if you EVER plan on adding an amp or better head unit.

Message: I just recently put 6.5" Infinity Ref. 6002si's in all four places. I got a deal on them from Crutchfield buy one pair/get 2nd pair half off so I only paid $160 for 4 speakers.
I like the sound so far with the stock HU but plan on removing the stock HU eventually. It really does depend on what type of music you listen to. I listen to mostly rock and I like them. But either way you should go to a speaker store and waste a salesman's time by listening to them and then buy them online.

Message: i agree, everyone has different tastes and listening habits. spend time listening to as many diff speakers as you can. it's free and you'll be able to make a more informed decision.

Message: I have 2 Alpine type S, and 2 Pioneer 4 ways, and I think they sound almost the same.
Onliy difference is the Pioneers were half the price of the Alpines.
Dan was right tho, you have to hear them for urself.
