Subject: 03 Club Cab speaker set up IP: Logged
Message: I just bought my 03 club cab and want to put new speakers in. I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help out with. I would really like to put a sub in somewhere. I already have an 8'' sub to use and was wondering if this fit underneath the back bench seat?
Another question is can the rear speaker area fit 6x9's. I was thinkin that if I cannot fit a sub underneath the seat then maybe just power some 6x9's with an amp to give the base that I want.
If someone could help me out with any kind of info that would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I'v seen an 8" sub box that fits in the tool tray, can't remember who mades it off hand. Try doing a search here for 8" CC sub box, you'll probably find the MFG. You could also make a fiberglass enclosure to fit the tool tray or take out the tool tray and make a custom box that fits some 10s, that's what I did. MTX also makes a thunderform for the CC daks which replaces the factory tool tray, it houses 2 10's, but it's pretty shallow. Check out Ebay, I have seen both these enclosures there before.
6x9's will fit in the side panels after some cutting, but the plastic side panels only have a 6 1/2" grill. The sound would get distorted playing through the 6 1/2 grill or the side panels would look funky with 6x9 grills screwed to them. I would opt for some 6 3/4" or 6 1/2 speakers and the sub you wanted. (Yeah 6 3/4" speakers, what was Dodge thinking?)
