Message: Hello i'm new at this car audio thing but here is my question. I heard the JL audio is good so i am planning to get there components and an amp. I really like the slash series amp but the only 2 channel amp they have are rated at 150*2 rms the component recommend it to be run at 75 rms. I asked the tech and he said it is okay to run it. What do you guys think?

Message: fivepointnine thanks I thought no one would reply me. I wonder why the techs at JL said it was OK. THey said all i have to do is adjust the crossover and listen for distortion.

Message: Elto, are the components "recommended" to be run at 75, or is the max power at 75? If it is the max power rating, then you run the risk of blowing 'em up, if it's the recommended rating, you need to check what the max rating is.

Message: Yes it is OK.
Get the JL Audio XR Series comps with a 150/2 and have them adjust the gains properly. Just do not clip the amp (turning it up to distortion) and all will be fine.
If you plan on possibly using rear speakers or possibly a small sub, then think about the 300/4.
I run an Alpine 9831 HU, JL XR 6.5" Comps, JL VR 6" Coaxials, JL Stealthbox (8w3v2). the comps and the sub are run off of the Amp and the Coaxials are run from the HU.
