Subject: I GOT ROBBED

To everyone out there who is putting awesome equipment in their Dakotas, beware. "Keyless entry" does not mean that our Daks have an alarm. My entire 2000 watt system, capacitor, 12s, box, radar detector, CDs, etc. was stolen through another form of "keyless entry": A hole in my driver window. Lucky for me, I have good insurance. Auto insurance covers everything that is bolted down and homeowners covers the rest, but I would like to have not gone through all of the hassle.

If someone would like to purchase a stock rear Infinity speaker or a stock infinity front tweeter/woofer combo, please post your e-mail. The Stealership wants $100 each, I'm willing to settle for $70. I am removing the whole thing and putting in aftermarket stuff. The driver door speaker was messed up when the glass from the window got into it and the driver rear speaker never worked well.

I love when people issue "warnings" for such obvious things. The only thing you need to beware of pal is your own stupidity.

When does "keyless entry" ever mean "alarm"?

It means you can open the door without a key.

Thank You, Anthony. The next time I have a piece of advice to share on this board, I will keep it to myself. I hope that you never have to go through the learning expierence that I did. It sucked and now I know how to avoid it in the future. I felt that it would be appropriate to post this in a fourm that addressed individuals who may benefit from it. Aparently, you are not one of those people.

Most people come on this board to learn about their trucks, avoid situations like mine, and get new ideas. I know my truck wouldn't be half what it is now without the selfless advice from others on this board. Quit stifling that process with flaming negative posts.

Stereo guys, if you want to keep your equipment heres a few extra pointers.

1. Never blast your radio/system while on your street. Neighborhood hooligans will remember your truck, and although they may not keep your stuff, they will sell it. I always turn it down to barely audible no less than 3 streets away.

2. Tint your back windows, and double tint if you have factory tint. People don't steal what they don't see. Most crooks glance through your windows in a second, if they can't see, they walk on.

3. Same as number 1, but this applies to parking lots. Never blast your system through a parking lot. Nothing says steal me, like attracting attention.

4. Buy a small black blanket, drape this over speaker boxes and equipment racks. In the dead of night, or the glare of day, in combination with tinted windows makes seeing your equipment impossible.

5. Remove your faceplate. Taking your faceplate with you will cause theives to ignore your system because they simply cant use it or sell it.

6. Aftermarket alarms go off easily, and most people regard them as a joke, but if you set off the alarm in your driveway, EVERYONE is going to notice. Nosey neighbors are stereo savers!

REMEMBER! You can't stop a determined theif so insure your system through HOME insurance, AUTO doesnt cover theft of belongings in your car. All you can do is be careful, conceil your system, and make sure your truck is safe.

spoken like a real mofo. along with that glock(sucks) and your permit, you should think about understanding the LAWS.

PS. without an alarm, chances are you won't even know if anyone's messin with your truck(unless you sleep in it)

Installing Motion lights help out a bunch too. I've put a pair of motion lights over my garage, and set them to go off when someone walks near just shy of my rear bumper. I also have the luxury of having retired neighbors who watch for hooligans constantly.

If you have a neighbor that works different hours than you and your spouse, a small mutual relationship with them concerning a neighborhood watch would be in your favor.
