Subject: 6 inch Subwoofers IP: Logged
Message: I want to put more bass in my 2000 regular cab. I have heard of companys that make 6 inch subs. The problem is that im having trouble finding a website that sells any. I think I have searched threw just about every site and still no luck. I know JL Audio makes a sub called the 6W0 and that would probaly work great but I cant find any one out their that sells them. I have had problems with the local JL dealers service quality and do not wish to go order from them anytime soon. Any help is greatly apperciated. Thanks!!

Message: is the 5"sub by focal, the smallest sub you can get ?.
the reason I ask is not for space to fit it in but because I dont want to take up too much space in my estate car(ford escort), Under the seat would be ideal, I dont need very much extra base.
I think all those kids who crank up all the base have got a screw loose(or will have).
link to focal , or any other supplier would be helpful,
I live in the UK by the way.

Message: Yes, pyramid and kove bazookaetc make 6 in subs, but they
suck, seriously.
Elemental Designs just came out with a beatiful 6.5 inch
subwoofer, the only of its kinda that is a true subwoofer, with
high excersion. Called the EU-700.
Check out their website at www.edesignaudio.com
I bought 2 of them for a custom home audio install, and man are
they great subs
Thats my only recomendation for th esize, 2nd is JL, after that,
nothing is comparable, maybe the focal, but its way overpriced,
and my friend has 2 of them in his car, and the elemental
designs kill them, and are cheaper
Watch the high excursion videos of this little monster on their
website. good stuff, hope this helps.

Message: I hope you are not going for real "bass", but for more of a mid-bass. A 6" will not have any surface area, an 8" really dosn't have the surface area.

Message: the eu-700 makes up for it's size by having nearly an inch of throw.....two will have about the same output as a single comparable 10"...and in case anyone is wondering, they drop right into the dodge oversized 6.5 holes. :)

have them in their?
Yeah those little monsters are nice, I ported 2 of them and wow
they surprised me, i love them...
Now I am thinknig of putting 2 more in the stock rear speaker
locations. I don't like Rear fill anyways and have a nice component
set up front with 320 rms watts going to both.
Let me know what you think of them if you have them too...

that's my door install...i took the long route doing mine, but yes, they will physically drop right into factory holes. the obvious catch is getting around the factory 3 mounting holes to the EUs 4.

Message: SQDak. Just curious. I once swapped out my rear door speakers for some two way components. I had to use a plastic shim just to space them out enough for the window to clear and go all the way down.
Now your speakers probably have even more throw that what I used so would be even deeper frames.
Does your window still roll all the way down?
BTW. Today I removed the two ways and threw the stocks back in and going to give the two ways to my dad since his are sh*t.
Reason is with the rear doors shut the tweeter faces the seats and don;t doo jack sh*t back there anyway... DOH!

Message: well.....i put mine in the front doors, and if you've ever looked closely at the window rails on the front, they don't really protrude into the speaker opening that much...don't know how the back doors look, as i have a CC. the opening and depth are fine as they are, though i used a 1/2" MDF spacer, mostly to seal it up to the outer skin and to fix the mount hole problem.
BTW: i finally got to listen to them today. short review, they're 6.5" subs, you can't expect them to be crazy loud, but yes they can get as loud(if not louder) than the single 10" i ran last year(diamond CM3)...SQ is AWESOME.....if absolute quality of sound is what you desire, then these may fit the bill for you. again, if you want to be heard a block away, then a pair of them won't do it, but for straight up SQ in a small space, they're hard to beat.
