Subject: rockford 500.2 under the seat? IP: Logged
Message: has anyone know if this amp will fit under the driver seat of a gen III club cab? according to one webpage the dimensions are:
13-7/16"W (9-15/16" without endcaps)
x 2-7/16"H
x 9-7/8"D
if it does fit without the endcaps i would be hella stoked, cause it puts out exactly what the thunderform can handle (500w RMS @ 4ohms)

Message: With the endcaps removed it should definitely fit under...dunno about with the endcaps on, but even still I think it might. I had the KAC-729 (another amp I recommend....it drove my Thunderform EASILY with the gain all the way DOWN) under my seat, and I think it measured 2.5" high by 9" wide by about 14" long, and it had room to spare.

Message: i also wonder since rockford amps are underrated, if giveing the speakers more power than they are rated for will damage the subs? the thunderform is supposed to be rated at 500w RMS and 1000w MAX. how overrated are rockfords usually?

Message: I dont know about them being underrated, but you can always keep the gain down...gives a cleaner power that way

Message: The amp can almost double its power in short bursts with noticable distortion, but on the other hand your subs can handle short bursts of to much power without damage.
Just don't play them so loud they are flopping around and distorting for long periods of time. The car audio magazines test the subs with 120volt amps with power levels of 2000 watts with out problems. You just have to know when the subs are saying: HELP! Your killing me!
