Subject: 2-10's & 1-12 how 2 and why IP: Logged
Message: I have 2 10's and one 12 and I am trying to design 1 box for all 3. I want to either port/vent the 10's and seal the 12, or the other way around. What I want to know is which one(s) should I port and which one(s) should I seal? And why.
I listen to all kinds of music which is why I want both sealed and ported.

Message: Building one box for all 3, you'll need to seperate the 12 from the 10's. I'd seal the 2 10's, since 10's give better punch per watt than 12's. 12's give better LOW frequency resonance, but you'll need an adjustable crossover that cuts all sound above about 120hz. You may want a audio shop to look at this one for you for best results, but you'll definately have to have a "box-in-a-box" design.

Message: Well I was going to make 3 seperate chambers, just one big box. But I think I'm going to go with the 10's sealed and the 12 vented. !0's on the outside of the 12. BUT I'm going to make all 3 of them downfireing and the vent for the 12 is going to be facing the front of my truck (2k QC) I have a box sitting on my back seats now with the 10's downfiring and it sounds pretty good, but I'm getting a 12 in the mail in about 3 days, so I was just trying to see what peoples had to say about it. Thanks all

Message: any time you have two speakers playing the same frequency, things get nasty......cancellaion and phase issues being the most notable....especially when it comes to subs of different sizes/specs....never a good idea to run different subs, unless you're doing some SERIOUS crossover work.
