I hacked out the center web of the plastic stock adapetrs and screwed the speakers and adapters to the door. You can get the adapters from stereo shops or online suppliers like Crutchfield. If you have woodworking tools you can whip up a set of adapters out of 1/2 MDF too.

For ease and time, i bought the adapters from crutchfield...still took some trimming. They were $15/set and i used Infinity Kappa 6.5" speakers in my Durango. The adapters did make it easier for sure.
